The Spirit of Truth

Christians often talk of truth, and rightly so. As believers we search for truth in
God's word. The Bible is likened unto a light that illuminates our path. But we also
know that what we refer to as truth cannot be separated from the person and ministry
of Jesus. He said I am the Way the Truth and the Life. If we aren't careful we can
preach and teach truth with the wrong spirit. We  need to guard against divisiveness,
harshness and insensitivity.  We need to closely examine our motives as we seek to
express truth to our friends, neighbors, family and church members. Which leads us to
a key consideration: How can I have a right spirit and right motives? The good news
here is that if we have Jesus we will have His Spirit. If we know what it is like to be
humbled by our own sins and weakness, we can be sensitive and encouraging to those
around us. We can be honest about who we are and about who Jesus is. If we have
Jesus we know what it means to have  hope, so we can bring that hope to others. If
we have Jesus we will not seek high position but simply to serve where ever He
places us.  A wise pastor once said that you can win a doctrinal debate but lose a
soul.  Let us seek Jesus so that we may be truly moved by His Spirit as we endeavor
to reveal Him as He really is to those around us.
